Pittsburg County man pleads guilty to possessing unregistered explosive device

A resident of Pittsburg County, Oklahoma, has pleaded guilty to a federal firearm charge. Jerry Brandon Pearce, 55, from Indianola, admitted to possessing an unregistered explosive device. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma made the announcement.

According to the indictment, Pearce knowingly had a destructive device that was not registered in his name on September 5, 2023. This registration is required by law under the National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record.

The case resulted from an investigation conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. U.S. Magistrate Judge Jason A. Robertson accepted Pearce's guilty plea in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma. The judge ordered a presentence investigation report and remanded Pearce into custody with the United States Marshals Service until sentencing.
