Timothy Woodard, a 26-year-old from Memphis, has been sentenced to 315 months in federal prison for his involvement in multiple hotel robberies committed between October and December 2022. The sentence was announced by Reagan Fondren, Acting United States Attorney for the Western District of Tennessee.

The first incident occurred on October 19, 2022, when Woodard entered a hotel and threatened a clerk with a handgun, demanding money from the cash drawer. After obtaining approximately $400 from the register and $300 from the hotel safe under threat of violence, Woodard left the premises.

A second robbery took place on December 19, 2022. In this instance, Woodard brandished a semi-automatic handgun at two desk clerks at another hotel before taking about $1,500 from the cash registers.

Later that day, Woodard targeted a third hotel accompanied by another individual. He leaped over the counter and pointed his gun at a clerk, demanding money from both the register and the clerk’s wallet. The amount stolen ranged between $800-$1000 from the register and $300-$500 from the clerk's personal belongings.

In December 2023, Woodard was indicted by a grand jury in Tennessee on six counts: three counts of "robbery affecting commerce" under Hobbs Act Robbery (18 U.S.C. § 1951) and three counts of brandishing a firearm during crimes of violence (18 U.S.C. § 924(c)). On May 15, 2024, he pled guilty to all charges.

On November 21, United States District Court Judge Mark S. Norris imposed the sentence on Woodard which includes three years of supervised release following his prison term. Notably, there is no parole available within the federal system.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation's Safe Streets Task Force conducted this investigation alongside the Memphis Police Department. Acting U.S. Attorney Fondren expressed gratitude towards Assistant United States Attorney Lorraine Craig for prosecuting this case as well as to law enforcement partners involved in investigating it.
