U.S. Attorney Robert J. Troester | U.S. Department of Justice

Quintral Demetrices Jones, a 28-year-old resident of Oklahoma City, has been sentenced to ten years in federal prison. The sentence follows his conviction for possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. U.S. Attorney Robert J. Troester announced the sentencing.

The charges stem from an incident on December 18, 2022, when officers from the Oklahoma City Police Department responded to a shooting in Bricktown. Surveillance footage showed Jones firing a weapon from a vehicle at another occupied car. Officers later found cocaine and the firearm used in the shooting inside the vehicle Jones occupied.

On December 19, 2023, a federal Grand Jury indicted Jones on three counts: possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, illegal possession of a firearm after a previous felony conviction, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking. Jones pleaded guilty on June 24, 2024, admitting his intent to distribute cocaine and his use of a gun for drug trafficking.

U.S. District Judge Bernard M. Jones sentenced him on November 19, 2024, to 120 months in prison followed by five years of supervised release. Judge Jones highlighted the severity of discharging a firearm and possessing distribution-level quantities of cocaine as factors influencing the sentence. He also noted Jones's extensive criminal history involving guns and drugs.

Jones's past convictions include concealing stolen property and marijuana possession (CF-2014-5742), unauthorized vehicle use and other offenses (CF-2014-6402), second-degree burglary (CF-2014-6451), and cocaine distribution with firearm possession (CF-2017-6174).

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives collaborated with the Oklahoma City Police Department on this investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Stan J. West prosecuted the case.

This case is part of "Operation Shots Fired," targeting individuals who discharge firearms during criminal activities such as drive-by shootings or other incidents involving gunfire.
