Mathew Crabtree, a 36-year-old from New Market, Alabama, was sentenced for DUI and refusing a breath test. He received a $750 fine and two years of unsupervised probation for the DUI offense, with an additional $750 fine and seven days of incarceration for the refusal. Crabtree is banned from Yellowstone National Park during his probation. He must serve four more days in jail by May 20, 2025. U.S. Magistrate Judge Stephanie A. Hambrick sentenced him on November 21, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Ariel Calmes prosecuting.
Matthew Stetzel, also 36, previously from Mammoth, Wyoming, faced similar charges along with possessing an open container of alcohol in his vehicle. For DUI, he was fined $750 and given one year of unsupervised probation, including a ban from Yellowstone National Park. Stetzel also received a $100 fine for the open container violation and seven days in jail for refusing the breath test; he must complete six more days by May 21, 2025. His case was heard by Judge Hambrick on November 21.
Ricardo Valencia from Long Beach, California was sentenced to over seven years in prison for methamphetamine possession with intent to distribute after being stopped by Wyoming Highway Patrol on I-80 in Laramie County in July 2022. Approximately eight pounds of methamphetamine were found in his vehicle along with other items. Valencia pleaded guilty on August 30 and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Alan B. Johnson on November 21.
Nicholas Elton Terry of Torrington, Wyoming received a sentence of two and a half years for fentanyl distribution intentions after being pulled over on I-25 by WHP officers who discovered about 1,000 fentanyl pills in his possession.
Preston Lewis from Rock Spring faced charges related to unlawful machine gun possession after admitting to modifying firearms into fully automatic weapons. He was sentenced to two and a half years imprisonment following an investigation involving multiple agencies including the FBI.
