In addition, they affirm their backing for the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force tasked with monitoring the Golan Heights region between Israel and Syria.
The G7 leaders express readiness to assist in a transition process that results in credible governance. Such governance should be inclusive, non-sectarian, respect the rule of law and universal human rights—including women's rights—and protect all Syrians, including religious and ethnic minorities. Transparency and accountability are also highlighted as key elements.
Support will be extended to any future Syrian government that meets these standards as part of the transition framework. Moreover, the G7 emphasizes holding the Assad regime accountable for its crimes. They plan to collaborate with the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) and other partners to secure and destroy Syria’s remaining chemical weapons stockpiles.
The statement underscores solidarity with the Syrian people after decades of suffering under Assad's regime. The G7 condemns terrorism and violent extremism unequivocally.
