As part of a security assistance initiative announced by President Biden on September 26, the United States is delivering a substantial package of military aid to Ukraine. This move aims to support Ukraine in its ongoing defense against Russian aggression.
The assistance, sourced from previous Department of Defense stock drawdowns, is valued at $1.25 billion. It includes various types of munitions and equipment such as Counter-Unmanned Aerial Systems (c-UAS) munitions, air defense munitions, and ammunition for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS). Additionally, the package provides 155mm and 105mm artillery ammunition, air-to-ground munitions, Javelin and AT-4 anti-armor systems, Tube-launched Optically guided Wire-tracked (TOW) missiles, as well as ammunition for crew-served weapons and fragmentation grenades.
Further components include demolitions equipment and munitions; communication tools; training resources; software; clothing and individual gear; spare parts; ancillary equipment; services; training; and transportation.
The United States joins over 50 nations in a unified effort to ensure that Ukraine possesses the necessary capabilities to defend itself against Russia's aggressive actions.
