The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma has reported that Richard Alan Chastain, a 52-year-old resident of Ardmore, Oklahoma, has pleaded guilty to a felony assault charge. The charge is one count of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon with Intent to Do Bodily Harm in Indian Country.
According to the indictment, the incident took place on July 17, 2024. Chastain was accused of assaulting a victim using a dangerous weapon with the intent to cause bodily harm. The location of the crime was Carter County, within the Chickasaw Nation Reservation's boundaries in the Eastern District of Oklahoma.
The investigation into this case was conducted by the Ardmore Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Gerald L. Jackson from the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma accepted Chastain's plea. A presentence investigation report has been ordered. Until sentencing occurs, Chastain will remain in custody under the United States Marshals Service.
