The United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Colorado has announced a change in leadership. U.S. Attorney Matthew T. Kirsch and Deputy U.S. Attorney Andrea Wang will resign from their positions by January 25, 2025.
Matthew T. Kirsch expressed his gratitude for his tenure, stating, “I’ve been incredibly honored to serve the United States and the people of Colorado through over twenty-five years of work at the Department of Justice. I will be forever grateful for the opportunity to work with my colleagues here and to lead this office.” He added that he is confident in the capabilities of his colleagues to uphold justice in Colorado.
Following his resignation, Mr. Kirsch will take on a new role as First Assistant District Attorney with the Denver District Attorney’s Office.
First Assistant U.S. Attorney J. Bishop Grewell will assume the position of Acting United States Attorney after Mr. Kirsch's departure. Mr. Grewell joined the Department of Justice in 2010 and has served in Colorado since 2013, currently holding the position of Chief of the Appellate Division.
In related developments, President-Elect Donald Trump is anticipated to nominate a new United States Attorney for Colorado soon.
