The Consumer Technology Association (CTA) has announced the beneficiaries of its CES 2025 Green Grants program, allocating $125,000 to three Nevada-based organizations focused on sustainability initiatives. This year's grants will support a tree planting initiative, a food rescue program, and a solar charging project.
For more than ten years, CTA has contributed over $900,000 in green grants to Las Vegas. The grants are awarded annually to organizations that exhibit a clear vision and measurable environmental goals. Recipients are chosen by a panel of experts from CTA.
"CTA and its Green Grants program is proud to support the Las Vegas and southern Nevada community which welcome CES and attendees from around the world every year," stated Gary Shapiro, CEO and Vice Chair of CTA. "ImpactNV, Three Square and Touro University Nevada share our dedication to sustainability and making a difference in the lives of current and future generations."
This year’s grant recipients include:
ImpactNV - $45,000: This nonprofit will use the funds for its Urban Forestry Initiative aimed at planting 100,000 trees over ten years across various communities in Nevada. The project seeks to combat extreme heat and poor air quality while eliminating approximately 13,000 pounds of carbon monoxide annually.
"ImpactNV is excited to receive a generous grant of $45,000 from the Consumer Technology Association as part of their dedication to enhancing the sustainability of Southern Nevada,” said Lauren Boitel, Executive Director at ImpactNV.
Three Square - $60,000: As Southern Nevada's only food bank, Three Square plans to redirect surplus food from retailers to families experiencing food insecurity. Last year alone, they saved 23.6 million pounds of food from landfills.
“We are incredibly grateful for the Consumer Technology Association’s Green Grants Program and their commitment to sustainability and hunger relief,” said Beth Martino, president and CEO of Three Square Food Bank.
Touro University Nevada - $20,000: This private university intends to install a solar-powered surveillance trailer on campus for enhanced security measures benefiting students and community members alike.
"Having the most cutting-edge technology for our students is a key part of their educational experience," remarked Dr. Andrew Priest, Campus President & Provost at Touro University Nevada.
CES remains one of the world's most significant tech events showcasing innovative technologies globally. The upcoming CES 2025 will take place from January 7-10 in Las Vegas.
