The Department of Defense has allocated $14.3 million to Anduril Industries, Inc., based in Costa Mesa, California. This funding is part of the Title III of the Defense Production Act and complements Anduril's $75 million private investment. The goal is to enhance supply chain resilience and boost domestic production in key strategic areas, as outlined in the 2024 National Defense Industrial Strategy.
Dr. Laura Taylor-Kale, Assistant Secretary of Defense for Industrial Base Policy, commented on the initiative: "The collective capital will expand efforts to increase production capacity at Anduril's facility for designing, producing, and testing solid rocket motor (SRM) systems, driving innovation, and expanding the industrial base." She added that this would enhance domestic manufacturing capabilities essential for current and future U.S. systems.
The funding aims to modernize and extend SRM production by updating existing facilities and refining manufacturing processes. Activities related to energetics work, casting, curing, quality assurance, and final assembly will take place at Anduril's Geisler Building in McHenry, Mississippi. This effort seeks to improve Anduril's ability to undertake new development projects and deliver critical munitions efficiently.
Anthony Di Stasio from the Manufacturing Capability Expansion and Investment Prioritization directorate highlighted: "The effort will streamline SRM production, designing a family of processes that cut costs, increase manufacturing speed, and improve product quality." He emphasized that this strategic investment would make developing new SRMs more cost-effective and efficient.
This award is one among five made by the DPA Purchases Office across various sectors since fiscal year 2025 began. The total amount awarded so far is $290.8 million under the oversight of the MCEIP directorate.
