IBM and SAP SE have announced the forthcoming release of RISE with SAP on IBM Power Virtual Server. This initiative is aimed at facilitating a smoother transition for IBM Power customers to move their ERP systems to the cloud, specifically SAP S/4HANA Cloud.
RISE with SAP offers a guided approach, delivering services and platforms that help organizations modernize their operating models. The new offering on IBM Power Virtual Server promises to cut down migration time from on-premises systems to the cloud to within 90 days.
"RISE with SAP has emerged as a business priority for enterprises across all industries as they move to SAP S/4HANA Cloud," said Anurag Agrawal, Founder and Chief Global Analyst at TechAisle. He highlighted the new offering's potential for secure and rapid migration of critical ERP workloads.
The use of IBM Power Virtual Server, known for its security and reliability, enables faster transformation of on-premises ERP systems. "IBM has worked hand-in-hand with SAP to provide a seamless and fast migration path," stated Rob Thomas, Senior Vice President at IBM.
IBM recently completed one of the largest SAP S/4HANA Cloud modernization projects using RISE with SAP. The project involved over 150,000 users across 175 countries and resulted in significant cost reductions through server rationalization and process automation.
"SAP is helping organizations run their best through cloud-based enterprise applications embedded with the power of SAP Business AI," said Thomas Saueressig from SAP's Executive Board.
Customers can accelerate their transformation by collaborating with IBM Consulting or other partners. The companies plan to offer combined solutions and efforts through an ecosystem of partners.
RISE with SAP on IBM Power Virtual Server is expected to be available in the second quarter of 2025, alongside an investment program from IBM. Customers are encouraged to start planning their transformation journey now.
