Julia Renae Mullinax, a 43-year-old resident of Batesburg-Leesville, has been sentenced to 13 months in federal prison following her guilty plea to conspiracy to commit wire fraud. The case revealed that Mullinax was involved in a scheme to defraud Lowe’s Home Improvement by using commercial credit accounts of local businesses while impersonating authorized representatives. This fraudulent activity occurred at several Lowe’s locations across South Carolina and other southeastern states between 2023 and 2024.

United States District Judge Joseph F. Anderson, Jr. imposed the sentence on Mullinax, which includes a subsequent three-year period of court-ordered supervision. Federal sentences do not include the possibility of parole. Additionally, Mullinax is required to pay restitution amounting to $47,234.10 to Lowe’s.

The investigation into this case was conducted by the United States Secret Service alongside the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Scott Matthews is handling the prosecution.
