U.S. Attorney Todd Gee announces resignation effective January 17

Todd Gee, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of Mississippi, has announced his intention to resign from his position. His resignation will take effect at 11:59 p.m. on January 17, 2025.

In a statement, Gee expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve in his home state. "The opportunity to serve as a United States Attorney in my home state of Mississippi has been the highest honor of my over 17 years of public service in the United States Department of Justice," he said. He also praised his colleagues, stating that "the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Mississippi is full of talented professionals dedicated to public safety, fairness, and the rule of law."

Gee extended thanks to President Biden for nominating him and to Attorney General Garland for supporting him during his tenure. He was sworn into office on October 3, 2023, and has been with the U.S. Department of Justice since 2007. Prior roles include Deputy Chief of the Public Integrity Section in the Criminal Division and Assistant United States Attorney in Washington D.C.
