Today, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Chair Lina M. Khan announced that an open meeting of the Commission will be held virtually on Tuesday, January 14, 2025. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 11 am ET and will start with a session for public comments.
The agenda for the meeting includes several key topics. One item is the "Housing 6(b)" initiative, where the Commission will consider issuing a request for public comment on orders related to the housing market. These orders aim to examine single-family rental investor holdings and assess strategies employed by mega-investors.
Another agenda item is the "Labor Exemption Policy Statement." The Commission plans to discuss whether to issue a policy statement clarifying its view on how the Clayton Act’s labor exemption applies regardless of a worker's classification as an employee or independent contractor.
Additionally, there will be consideration of issuing a second interim staff report concerning pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs). This report aims to highlight further findings from the FTC's study on PBM contracting practices.
Chair Khan will deliver brief remarks at the beginning of the meeting and then invite public feedback on various aspects of the Commission’s work. Public participants must register in advance if they wish to address the Commission virtually during this event.
Each registered commenter will have two minutes to speak. Those unable to participate can submit written comments or provide links to prerecorded videos through an online form available until Friday, January 10, 2025, at 8 pm ET.
A link for viewing the meeting will be posted shortly before it begins via FTC.gov. The event will also be recorded, with both webcast and related comments accessible on the FTC website afterward. The Commission reserves discretion over making public comments available following the event on FTC.gov.
