Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Calexico West Port of Entry intercepted 152.20 pounds of methamphetamine hidden in a pickup truck. The incident occurred on January 5 when officers encountered a 46-year-old man driving a 2024 pickup truck attempting to enter the United States from Mexico.

After an initial inspection, the driver and vehicle were sent for secondary examination. During this process, a CBP K-9 unit detected something suspicious near the rear driver's side of the vehicle. Officers used non-intrusive imaging technology, revealing irregularities in the front passenger and rear seats.

A physical examination led to the discovery of 11 packages wrapped in foil containing methamphetamine. These packages were located under the floor, within the rear seats' factory compartment, and in the fenders of the truck.

"This interception underscores the officers’ continued diligence and commitment to national security," stated Roque Caza, Area Port Director of Calexico. "I am extremely proud of our officers’ exceptional ability to remain steadfast and vigilant while carrying out our mission and keeping our communities safe."

The driver was handed over to Homeland Security Investigations for further inquiry. CBP officers seized both the narcotics and vehicle.
