A St. Louis resident, Adrian Peebles, has admitted to orchestrating multiple vehicle accidents to commit insurance fraud. On Monday, Peebles pleaded guilty to a charge of mail fraud in connection with these activities.

Between September 2021 and January 2023, Peebles staged the accidents primarily at night in secluded areas to minimize detection. He consistently reported injuries to responding officers and sought emergency medical attention for what he described as "non-determinative pain that required expensive tests that never identified any particular injury." Despite receiving payments from vehicle insurance companies, which totaled $107,951, Peebles directed these funds to himself instead of covering his medical expenses.

The case was investigated by the FBI and is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney John Ware. Peebles is set for sentencing on April 17.
