At the recent Awakening 2025 Conference, The Heritage Foundation recognized Larry P. Arnn, Ph.D., with its Great American Award. This award honors individuals who exemplify the American dream through dedication, perseverance, and integrity, contributing to national leadership and community strength.

The award was established by the Amos family in memory of William Amos Sr., founder of AFLAC. It acknowledges those who have devoted their lives to public service and movement building.

Larry Arnn, president of Hillsdale College, was chosen for his commitment to educating future generations about America's founding principles and the patriots who defended them. "As our country endures battles over our history, our language, and even the meaning of America," said Heritage Foundation President Dr. Kevin Roberts during the presentation, "Larry Arnn’s steadfast belief that all men are created equal and endowed by our Creator with inalienable rights has inspired students and faculty, parents and philanthropists, elected leaders and citizens."

Roberts further remarked on Arnn's dedication: “His life has been dedicated to ensuring that Americans know what it means to love our country through ‘study and learning, prayer and devotion, argument and action’ and know that through these acts we must defend our liberty.”

Previous recipients of the Great American Award include notable figures such as Bernie Marcus of Home Depot fame; Charles C. Krulak, former Commandant of the United States Marine Corps; Dr. James Dobson Jr., founder of Focus on the Family; and Edwin Meese III, Former Attorney General of the United States.
