Joseph Beach, a 55-year-old resident of Inwood, West Virginia, has been sentenced to 41 months in federal prison for wire fraud. The sentence was handed down in Martinsburg, West Virginia.

Beach admitted guilt to the charge in March 2024. Court documents revealed that he exploited his position as fiduciary for his father, who resides in a veterans' facility and receives monthly benefits. Beach misappropriated $253,867.12 from his father's veteran's disability, retirement, and social security payments for personal use.

In addition to the prison term, Beach is required to pay restitution amounting to $253,876.12 and will undergo three years of supervised release after serving his sentence.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Eleanor Hurney. The investigation involved the Veterans Affairs Office of Inspector General, the U.S. Office of Personnel Management, and the Social Security Administration.

U.S. District Judge Gina M. Groh presided over the proceedings.
