Lynn man pleads guilty in large-scale drug trafficking case

Joshua S. Levy, U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the District of Massachusetts

A Lynn resident, Sebastien Bejin, also known as "Bash," has pleaded guilty in a federal court in Boston for his involvement in a significant drug trafficking organization operating on the North Shore of Massachusetts. The plea comes after authorities seized millions of doses of fentanyl and methamphetamine-laced pills and powder with an estimated street value exceeding $7 million from a stash location and clandestine laboratory linked to the organization.

Bejin, aged 34, admitted guilt to one count of conspiracy to distribute controlled substances and possess controlled substances with intent to distribute, along with one count of possession of controlled substances with intent to distribute. U.S. District Court Judge Patti B. Saris has scheduled his sentencing for May 1, 2025. Bejin was initially charged in November 2023 alongside alleged co-conspirators Emilio Garcia and Deiby Felix, who were later indicted by a federal grand jury in December 2023.

The investigation into the drug trafficking operation began in July 2023 following an overdose death in Salem. This inquiry led investigators to the organization allegedly headed by Bejin, Garcia, and Felix.

On November 1, 2023, searches were conducted at four locations in Lynn associated with Garcia and Bejin. These searches resulted in what is considered one of the largest single-location seizures of fentanyl and methamphetamine within Massachusetts and the surrounding region. The seizure included nine kilograms (20 pounds) of pink heart-shaped fentanyl-laced pills designed to resemble candy. Additional narcotics and five firearms were also confiscated during this operation. Throughout the investigation, over 75 kilograms (198 pounds) of fentanyl and methamphetamine were seized along with multiple additional kilograms of cocaine and dozens of kilograms of cutting agents such as xylazine used to adulterate controlled substances.

Surveillance revealed that Garcia and Bejin frequently visited the stash location daily before distributing quantities of suspected controlled substances to lower-level dealers. A search at Felix's residence uncovered more than three kilograms (6.6 pounds) of pressed pills containing methamphetamine and fentanyl along with a firearm. Further examination revealed a clandestine drug laboratory constructed within a small basement room equipped with industrial pill presses, mixing equipment, and other manufacturing paraphernalia.

The charges related to possession with intent to distribute controlled substances carry potential sentences ranging from at least ten years up to life imprisonment along with three years supervised release plus fines up $250000 per offense according guidelines statutes governing criminal case sentencing determinations.
