A Duval County resident, Oscar Luis Saenz Jr., has been sentenced to 30 years in federal prison for the sexual exploitation of a child. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Alamdar S. Hamdani. Saenz, aged 32, pleaded guilty on September 26, 2024.

U.S. District Judge Nelva Gonzales Ramos ordered the sentence and emphasized the seriousness of the crime and the victim's age during the hearing. Testimony from the victim's mother highlighted the significant impact of Saenz’s actions on their family. In addition to his prison term, Saenz must pay $15,000 in restitution to a known victim and will be under supervised release for life after serving his sentence. He is required to adhere to strict conditions limiting his access to children and internet use and must register as a sex offender.

The investigation into Saenz commenced when authorities found him engaging in online discussions about child sexual assault material (CSAM). On August 28, 2023, he shared a video of himself abusing a young child, leading to his immediate arrest by law enforcement.

Following his arrest, Saenz confessed to creating the video depicting abuse and was found with approximately 100 files containing CSAM on his phone.

Saenz remains in custody awaiting transfer to a designated U.S. Bureau of Prisons facility.

The investigation was conducted by Homeland Security Investigations with support from the Duval County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Patrick Overman prosecuted this case under Project Safe Childhood (PSC), an initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006 aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse through coordinated efforts across federal, state, and local agencies.
