Five arrested for armed home invasion in Orange County

Authorities have announced the arrest of five individuals charged with carrying out a violent home invasion in Orange County, New York. The accused, Bhupinderjit Singh, Elijaiah Roman, Corey Hall, Erik Suarez, and Divya Kumari, are alleged to have conducted a gun-point robbery at the residence of a small business owner.

Acting U.S. Attorney Edward Y. Kim commented on the case: "Bhupinderjit Singh and his co-defendants allegedly planned and executed a violent robbery, during which four children watched as their parents were zip tied and held at gunpoint while four men ransacked their home looking for money and valuables."

According to FBI Assistant Director James E. Dennehy: "These five defendants participated in a robbery in which a firearm was brandished to gain unauthorized entry into a family’s home and steal valuable jewelry and thousands of dollars." He emphasized that such forceful intrusions violate personal security and noted the terror inflicted on the children involved.

The incident reportedly occurred on December 1, 2024. As detailed in the unsealed complaint filed in White Plains federal court, Singh, Roman, Hall, and Suarez forced entry into the home located near Wallkill, New York. They allegedly zip-tied both parents while their children watched. The suspects then demanded valuables from the family before leaving with stolen items including jewelry and approximately $10,000 in cash.

Divya Kumari is accused of acting as a lookout during the robbery. All five defendants face charges including Hobbs Act robbery conspiracy and Hobbs Act robbery—each carrying potential sentences of up to 20 years imprisonment. Additionally, Singh, Roman, Hall, and Suarez are charged with using firearms during a crime of violence—a charge that could result in life imprisonment if convicted.

Edward Y. Kim acknowledged the efforts of law enforcement partners including the FBI's Hudson Valley Safe Streets Task Force as well as local police departments involved in investigating this case.

Assistant U.S Attorney David A. Markewitz is overseeing prosecution efforts through the Office's White Plains Division.

It is important to note that all charges are currently accusations; each defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
