Joshua S. Levy, U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the District of Massachusetts
A Boston man has admitted guilt in connection with his involvement in the Cameron Street gang, known for its violent activities in the Dorchester area. James Rodrigues, 34, pleaded guilty to charges of racketeering and cocaine distribution. U.S. Senior District Court Judge William G. Young has set his sentencing for January 30, 2025.
Rodrigues was identified as a member of Cameron Street, a gang that uses violence to maintain control over its territory and protect its drug operations. He collaborated with other members to distribute significant quantities of cocaine from a stash house in Somerville. Authorities seized nearly 400 grams of cocaine during an April 2022 search of the property.
The charges against Rodrigues could result in up to 20 years in prison for each conspiracy count, along with potential fines reaching $1 million. Sentencing will be determined based on federal guidelines.
The announcement came from Acting United States Attorney Joshua S. Levy, alongside officials from various law enforcement agencies including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
This case is part of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) Strike Force Initiative aimed at dismantling major criminal organizations through coordinated multi-agency efforts.
All defendants named in the indictment are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
