Efforts continue during National Human Trafficking Prevention Month 2025

ORGANIZATIONS IN THIS STORY

January marks National Human Trafficking Prevention Month, a period dedicated to raising awareness, enhancing advocacy efforts, supporting survivors, and engaging communities in a united effort to combat human trafficking. This crime exploits individuals, damages communities, undermines the rule of law, and poses a threat to national security. Governments are urged to lead in developing strong anti-trafficking measures.

Over the past four years, there has been an effort to hold accountable those profiting from forced labor and to initiate partnerships with foreign governments aimed at preventing trafficking, protecting survivors, and prosecuting traffickers. Additionally, work has been done to assist foreign governments and communities in involving trafficking survivor-leaders and establishing formal ways for survivors to contribute to anti-trafficking initiatives.

As 2025 begins, there is recognition of both the progress made in combating this crime and the need for continued collaborative efforts worldwide to eliminate human trafficking in all its forms. The goal is a world where human trafficking is no longer tolerated and everyone can live with dignity and freedom.
