Cocaine worth over $721K seized by CBP at Laredo port

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Laredo Port of Entry seized cocaine valued at over $721,000. The incident took place on January 15 at the Juarez-Lincoln Bridge when a 54-year-old male U.S. citizen driving a 2017 Ford Explorer was directed to secondary inspection.

During the inspection, CBP officers discovered 54.01 pounds of cocaine within the vehicle using canine assistance and non-intrusive examination systems. The narcotics were valued at $721,182.

Port Director Alberto Flores stated, “CBP is proud of the work our frontline officers do to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our communities.” He added that this seizure exemplifies ongoing efforts to protect borders.

The narcotics and vehicle were confiscated by CBP, and the driver was arrested. Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) special agents are conducting further investigation into the case.
