Virginia man receives prison sentence for interstate threats

William S. Thompson U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of West Virginia

Sebastian Reigle, a 24-year-old resident of Woodbridge, Virginia, has been sentenced to two years and six months in prison for transmitting a threat across state lines. This will be followed by three years of supervised release.

Court documents reveal that on August 2, 2021, Reigle was arrested in Texas for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and later faced charges of sexual assault. Between October 2022 and January 2024, he sent multiple threatening messages via voicemail and text to the alleged victim from the 2021 incident.

On August 4, 2023, Reigle left a threatening voicemail while in Virginia. The alleged victim was located in the Southern District of West Virginia at the time. In his message, Reigle threatened to "beat" the victim "worse than two years ago," suggesting that the attack would render them unconscious.

United States Attorney Will Thompson praised the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for their investigative efforts in this case. United States District Judge Joseph R. Goodwin delivered the sentence, while Assistant United States Attorney D. Keith Randolph handled prosecution duties.
