Sean P. Costello U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Alabama
A Mobile man, Ti’Biasz Tithese Houston, has been sentenced to 27 months in prison for the illegal possession of a machinegun. This sentence follows his arrest in November 2023 after police responded to reports of gunfire in a residential area. Houston was found near the scene inside a parked SUV.
During a search of the vehicle, officers discovered marijuana and several loaded pistols with extended magazines. Among these firearms was a Glock .40 caliber pistol equipped with an illegal machinegun-conversion device, known as a "Glock switch," which converts the weapon into a fully automatic firearm.
Further investigation led agents to obtain a warrant for Houston's cell phone, revealing evidence of his involvement in possessing and selling Glock switches illegally. The phone contained numerous photos and videos showing him with pistols fitted with these devices and text messages discussing their sale.
In addition to his prison term, Senior United States District Judge William H. Steele ordered Houston to serve three years of supervised release following his incarceration. During this period, he will undergo drug testing and treatment as well as mental health evaluation and treatment. While no fine was imposed, Judge Steele mandated that Houston pay $100 in special assessments.
The announcement came from U.S. Attorney Sean P. Costello of the Southern District of Alabama. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives along with the Mobile Police Department conducted the investigation into this case.
