Joshua S. Levy, U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the District of Massachusetts
A Dominican man has been sentenced for unlawfully reentering the United States after being deported. Edward Tejeda Pimental, also known as "Miguel Carrillo Rodrigues" and "Angel Matos," received a 37-month prison sentence from U.S. District Court Judge Denise J. Casper. After serving his sentence, he will undergo two years of supervised release and face deportation proceedings.
Tejeda Pimental pleaded guilty in November 2024 to one count of illegal reentry. His history includes multiple removals from the United States following various convictions. In 2003, he was removed after a federal immigration offense conviction in Texas. He faced another removal in 2008 due to narcotics convictions in Massachusetts and was deported again in 2018 following a drug-related arrest in New Hampshire.
Currently, Tejeda Pimental is facing an additional drug charge related to fentanyl trafficking, stemming from a 2022 arrest in Massachusetts state court.
The announcement of his sentencing was made by United States Attorney Joshua S. Levy and Todd M. Lyons, Field Office Director for Boston's U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney John J. Reynolds III of the Major Crimes Unit.
