U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has announced that Australia is now a Global Entry partner country. This development marks a notable step in enhancing travel and security collaboration between the United States and Australia. With this agreement, Australia becomes one of 19 countries whose citizens can apply for Global Entry membership.

Pete Flores, Senior Official Performing the Duties of the Commissioner, stated, "With over 1 million travelers entering the United States each day, this agreement reflects our shared commitment to safe and efficient travel for both of our countries." He added that the partnership would "enhance the speed and accuracy of the arrival process while protecting national security at the same time."

Global Entry partnerships aim to enhance security while promoting trade, tourism, and cultural exchange. Australian citizens who are pre-vetted as low-risk will benefit from expedited customs and immigration processing upon arrival in the U.S. Applicants must undergo rigorous vetting by both U.S. and Australian authorities, including an in-person interview before initial enrollment. Members must adhere to program terms to maintain their status; violations may lead to enforcement actions or termination of privileges.

Australia's application process will occur in two phases. Phase One involves a limited number of applications, while Phase Two will open applications to all Australian citizens. Applications for Phase One are currently open, with further details available on an Australian Department of Home Affairs webpage dedicated to Global Entry.

Global Entry is part of CBP's Trusted Traveler Programs, which provide expedited entry services to millions annually. Eligible members also gain access to TSA PreCheck for faster security screening at participating U.S. airports.

In addition to Australia, other Global Entry partner countries include Argentina, Bahrain, Brazil, Colombia, Croatia, Dominican Republic, Germany, Japan, India, Mexico, Netherlands, Panama, Republic of Korea, Singapore, Switzerland Taiwan United Arab Emirates United Kingdom

Members can use the Global Entry Mobile App for digital confirmation upon arriving in the U.S., further expediting their entry process.

The CBP serves as America's largest law enforcement organization with over 65 thousand personnel working across various environments to ensure lawful travel and trade while safeguarding national security through innovation intelligence collaboration trust
