In Alaska, notable cases include Durham School Services in Palmer facing a $164,000 penalty under the Safe Drinking Water Act and the United States Army Garrison Fort Wainwright in Fairbanks with a $233,300 penalty for violating the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act.
Idaho saw significant penalties as well, with Clearwater Paper Corporation in Lewiston fined $322,088 under the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act. Darigold Inc’s Caldwell Facility was penalized $318,000 for Clean Water Act violations.
Oregon's Oil Re-Refining Company faced a $62,000 fine for Clean Water Act violations in Portland. Meanwhile, Owens Corning Roofing and Asphalt LLC received a $33,589 penalty under the Clean Air Act.
In Washington, Darigold Inc had multiple facilities fined for Clean Water Act breaches; their Chehalis facility alone was penalized $249,500. Additionally, Four Star Supply in Pullman faced a substantial penalty of $111,000 under the same act.
These cases reflect ongoing efforts by EPA Region 10 to enforce compliance with environmental laws across its jurisdiction.
