The National Association of REALTORS (NAR) has expressed approval for President Trump's recent executive order aimed at addressing the housing affordability and supply crisis. Shannon McGahn, NAR's Chief Advocacy Officer, released a statement highlighting the organization's support for the initiative.
"The National Association of REALTORS applauds President Trump for bringing attention to the dire need to address the urgent and ongoing challenges surrounding housing affordability and supply," said McGahn. She emphasized that NAR has communicated these issues to the President’s team, pointing out that insufficient supply is a primary factor driving up housing costs. This situation adversely affects the housing market and prevents first-time buyers from entering it.
In discussions with the administration, NAR encouraged a focus on property rights, inventory, affordability, and accessibility to housing. These measures are seen as ways to stimulate economic growth and provide more Americans with opportunities to build generational wealth.
McGahn further stated, "The President’s executive order underscores the critical need for bold, coordinated action to lower housing costs and increase the availability of homes for families across this country." She reiterated NAR's long-standing advocacy for policies that promote housing development, improve affordability, and support sustainable homeownership opportunities. The organization looks forward to collaborating with the administration on implementing this executive order.
