A Maine man has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for making harassing and threatening communications. Angelo Castigliola, aged 44 and formerly of Biddeford, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge John A. Woodcock, Jr. in Bangor's U.S. District Court.
Castigliola will also face three years of supervised release following his prison term, with the first year under stand-alone monitoring. Additionally, he has been ordered to pay restitution to the victim. He had pleaded guilty on August 26, 2024.
Court records reveal that from mid-July to early August 2023, Castigliola engaged in repeated harassment through phone calls and text messages directed at the victim. His actions included calling the victim 57 times and leaving nine voicemails, as well as sending 40 text messages in a single day. The content of these communications was harassing and included threats against an unidentified police officer believed by Castigliola to be involved with the victim.
On July 28, 2023, Castigliola extended his harassment to the victim’s mother by making several phone calls while disguising his number and leaving two voicemails. In one voicemail, he threatened harm against three family members including the victim and made threats of sexual violence against two minor children.
The investigation was conducted by the FBI.
