Today, Michael Dwayne Kelly II and Savannah Elizabeth Todd, both from Beckley, West Virginia, received prison sentences for their involvement in federal drug crimes. Kelly, 35, was sentenced to four years and ten months in prison followed by three years of supervised release. Todd, 32, was sentenced to three years and ten months in prison with the same period of supervised release.
Court documents revealed that on January 27, 2022, Kelly sold approximately 6.9 grams of fentanyl to a confidential informant for $700 at a residence in Beckley. He later admitted to another sale involving approximately 28 grams of fentanyl for $500 at the same location on February 10, 2022.
In a separate incident on February 8, 2022, Todd sold about 3.5 grams of fentanyl for $550 to an informant at the Beckley residence. Following this activity, law enforcement executed a search warrant on February 17 at the residence where they discovered Kelly and Todd along with illegal substances including fentanyl, cocaine, heroin and several firearms.
United States Attorney Will Thompson acknowledged the efforts of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Beckley/Raleigh County Drug and Violent Crime Unit for their investigative work. This unit comprises officers from various local law enforcement agencies including the West Virginia State Police.
Chief United States District Judge Frank W. Volk imposed these sentences while Assistant United States Attorney Brian D. Parsons led the prosecution.
