Repeat offender pleads guilty to child pornography charges

Joshua S. Levy, U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the District of Massachusetts

A registered sex offender has admitted guilt in federal court in Worcester to charges related to child pornography. Corey Bouchard, 34, from Douglas, pleaded guilty to a single charge of accessing child pornography with the intent to view it. U.S. District Court Judge Margaret R. Guzman has set sentencing for May 7, 2025, in Worcester. Bouchard was initially charged by complaint in April 2024.

In November 2023, a search of Bouchard's residence led to the discovery of a cache file on his cell phone containing approximately 72 videos depicting child pornography. About 56 of these video file names matched those shared by others in Kik messenger group chats that Bouchard participated in. He confessed to accessing the material with the intent to view it.

Bouchard has a previous state conviction for possession of child pornography and is listed as a registered sex offender. The current charge could result in a sentence ranging from a minimum of 10 years up to 20 years in prison, followed by supervised release lasting from five years up to life. Additionally, fines could reach $250,000, along with various assessments and restitution.

The announcement was made by United States Attorney Leah B. Foley; Michael J. Krol, Special Agent in Charge of Homeland Security Investigations in New England; and Colonel Geoffrey D. Noble, Superintendent of the Massachusetts State Police. Assistance came from the Uxbridge and Douglas Police Departments, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Kaitlin J. Brown handling prosecution duties.

This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006 aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse nationwide. The project unites federal, state, and local resources to pursue offenders and aid victims.
