A Fort Dodge man has been sentenced to 16 years in federal prison for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute. Jordan Taylor, 35, was sentenced on January 23, 2025, in Sioux City federal court after pleading guilty on April 11, 2024. His previous convictions for drug trafficking classified him as a career offender.
Court documents revealed that Taylor distributed methamphetamine multiple times in August 2023 to an individual cooperating with law enforcement. In September 2023, authorities executed a search warrant at a Fort Dodge hotel where Taylor was staying. During the search, officers found Taylor attempting to flush methamphetamine down the toilet and seized about one pound of pure methamphetamine along with other drugs and paraphernalia. Further investigation attributed approximately three pounds of methamphetamine distribution to Taylor.
The sentencing took place before United States District Court Judge Leonard T. Strand. Besides his prison term, Taylor will serve five years of supervised release post-imprisonment; there is no parole in the federal system. He remains in U.S. Marshals custody awaiting transport to a federal facility.
Assistant United States Attorney Patrick T. Greenwood prosecuted the case, which was investigated by several agencies including the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement and the Fort Dodge Police Department.
