Chairman John Moolenaar of the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party addressed the Wilson Center's event, "Strategic Competition in the Second Trump Administration," as the keynote speaker. In his speech, Moolenaar discussed perceived threats from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and emphasized collaboration with Congress and the Trump administration to address these issues.
Moolenaar stated, "The Chinese Communist Party approaches the United States as an enemy to be harmed rather than as a partner." He highlighted areas such as fentanyl, intellectual property theft, transnational repression, Taiwan, and trade as fronts in what he described as a broader conflict with China. "For the past two years, the Select Committee has demonstrated how the CCP’s aggression in areas like fentanyl, IP theft, transnational repression, Taiwan, and trade are all different fronts in the same war," said Chairman Moolenaar.
He expressed his commitment to continuing bipartisan efforts through the Select Committee and working alongside the Trump administration. "I am proud to carry forward the Select Committee’s bipartisan mission and I look forward to working with the Trump Administration to win the competition against the CCP," he added.
