Secretary Rubio is now implementing travel sanctions on individuals and their families who were involved in obstructing U.S. repatriation flight operations. The measures will remain in place until Colombia fulfills its obligation to accept the return of its citizens.
According to the State Department, "America will not back down when it comes to defending its national security interests." Under INA 212 (a)(3)(C), Secretary Rubio holds the authority to declare any alien inadmissible if their entry could have "potentially serious adverse foreign policy consequences for the United States."
