U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Laredo Port of Entry seized methamphetamine valued at over $8,100,000 during a weekend operation. The interception took place on January 24 at the World Trade Bridge when officers referred a 2003 Volvo 760, carrying industrial machinery, for further inspection.

Port Director Alberto Flores commented on the success of the operation: “World Trade Bridge officers successfully intercepted methamphetamine, preventing this dangerous drug substance from reaching our communities.” He emphasized the agency's dedication to public safety and border security against illegal drug trafficking.

The inspection involved both canine units and non-intrusive technology, leading to the discovery of nearly 890 pounds of methamphetamine hidden within the shipment. The narcotics have an estimated street value of $8,181,799.

Following the seizure, CBP confiscated the drugs while Homeland Security Investigations special agents continue to investigate.

CBP is known as America's frontline in law enforcement and border management. With over 65,000 personnel, they ensure safe travel and trade while protecting national security through various innovative methods.
