Plum resident pleads guilty to drug trafficking and firearm possession

A former resident of Plum, Pennsylvania, Solomon Givens, has pleaded guilty in federal court to charges related to drug trafficking and firearms possession. The announcement was made by Acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti.

Givens, aged 55, admitted guilt before United States District Judge Robert J. Colville. The charges include possession with intent to distribute significant quantities of para-fluorofentanyl, fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, and crack cocaine. Additionally, Givens pleaded guilty to possessing a firearm and ammunition as a convicted felon.

The court was informed that on October 12, 2021, members of the DEA and the Allegheny County District Attorney Narcotics Enforcement Team (DANET) executed a search warrant at an apartment used by Givens. During the search, they found substantial amounts of drugs and eight firearms. Givens has 13 prior felony convictions.

Judge Colville has scheduled sentencing for May 29, 2025. The law stipulates a sentence ranging from a minimum of 10 years to life imprisonment and fines up to $10 million. The actual sentence will depend on the severity of the offenses and Givens' criminal history. Until sentencing occurs, Givens will remain in custody.

Assistant United States Attorney Michael R. Ball is leading the prosecution for this case. The investigation was carried out by the Drug Enforcement Administration along with the Allegheny County DANET unit.
