Youngsville man sentenced for possessing child exploitation materials

Duane A. Evans, U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Louisiana

U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans announced that Coy David Miller, 49, from Youngsville, Louisiana, was sentenced on January 15, 2025. He was charged with possession of materials involving the sexual exploitation of minors, a violation under Title 18, United States Code, Sections 2252(a)(4)(B) and (b)(2).

Court documents revealed that Miller was searched by U.S. Customs and Border Protection along with special agents from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security at Louis Armstrong International Airport on October 17, 2023. The search occurred upon his return from Cancun, Mexico, where federal agents discovered he possessed images and videos depicting pre-pubescent child pornography.

Senior United States District Judge Ivan L.R. Lemelle sentenced Miller to 46 months in prison followed by ten years of supervised release. Additionally, he received a $10,000 fine and is required to register as a sex offender.

This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006 to address child sexual exploitation and abuse. This project combines resources from federal, state, and local levels to apprehend individuals exploiting children online and rescue victims.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office recognized the contributions made by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Homeland Security Investigations and U.S. Customs and Border Protection in this case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Brian M. Klebba is handling the prosecution.
