Jose Luis Ramos, a 56-year-old from Michoacan, Mexico, has been sentenced to five years in prison. The sentencing was delivered by U.S. District Judge Troy L. Nunley for conspiracy to distribute at least 500 grams of methamphetamine. This announcement was made by Acting U.S. Attorney Michele Beckwith.
Court documents revealed that Ramos was caught on a wiretap arranging the delivery of 10 pounds of methamphetamine in Southern California. Of this amount, two pounds were seized by the FBI in Sacramento.
The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Cameron L. Desmond and Alstyn Bennett led the prosecution.
Ramos' co-defendant, Jesus Celaya, received a sentence of 73 months in prison on October 10, 2024, for distributing methamphetamine.
