A Hot Springs man, Cedric A. Mitchell, was sentenced to 140 months in federal prison for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute. The sentencing was overseen by Chief Judge Susan O. Hickey at the United States District Court in Hot Springs.
Court records reveal that on October 1, 2022, Mitchell, aged 37, was a passenger in a vehicle stopped by the Hot Springs Police Department. Officers discovered that he was on parole and had an active Arkansas Search Waiver. During a search, officers found 551 grams of methamphetamine in his right front jacket pocket.
Mitchell pleaded guilty on September 13, 2024, to possession of more than five hundred grams of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.
U.S. Attorney David Clay Fowlkes announced the sentence. The case was investigated by the Hot Springs Police Department Special Investigation Division and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Trent Daniels.
