David Clay Fowlkes, U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Arkansas
A Hot Springs resident, Deangelo Michael Lover, has been sentenced to 170 months in federal prison for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking offense. The sentencing was overseen by Chief Judge Susan O. Hickey at the United States District Court in Hot Springs.
Court records indicate that on September 13, 2023, Lover, aged 34, sold 24 grams of methamphetamine to a confidential informant. Two days later, he attempted another sale to the same informant. Following this, Hot Springs Police investigators from the Special Investigation Division coordinated with Arkansas State Police to conduct a traffic stop on Lover's vehicle. During the stop, Lover was arrested due to an outstanding warrant. A search of his vehicle revealed 46 grams of methamphetamine and a handgun.
On September 30, 2024, Lover entered a guilty plea for possessing more than five grams of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney David Clay Fowlkes. The investigation was carried out by the Hot Springs Police Department Special Investigation Division. Assistant U.S. Attorney Trent Daniels prosecuted the case.
