Sabine Parish man sentenced for distributing methamphetamine

Huey P. Scott, Jr., a resident of Many, Louisiana, has been sentenced to over 12 years in prison for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. Acting United States Attorney Alexander C. Van Hook announced the sentencing following Scott's conviction by a federal jury on September 18, 2024.

United States District Judge S. Maurice Hicks, Jr. delivered the sentence of 151 months in prison and an additional five years of supervised release for the drug trafficking charge. The trial revealed that agents from the Sabine Parish Sheriff's Office's Tactical Narcotics Team conducted controlled purchases of methamphetamine from Scott at his residence on three occasions in 2022. Evidence showed Scott was both a user and distributor of methamphetamine.

The investigation led to multiple controlled buys and culminated in the execution of a search warrant at Scott’s home, resulting in his arrest. During the search, law enforcement seized approximately 139.31 grams of methamphetamine found in a duffel bag, along with smaller quantities in separate baggies. Tests conducted by the North Louisiana Criminalistics Laboratory confirmed the substances were methamphetamine.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation and Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Office’s Tactical Narcotics Team carried out the investigation, while Assistant United States Attorneys Mike Shannon and Earl M. Campbell prosecuted the case.
