Parren Hawkins, a 33-year-old resident of Washington, D.C., faces charges in Superior Court for armed carjacking. The incident took place in Northeast D.C., and the charge was announced by U.S. Attorney Edward R. Martin, Jr., alongside Chief Pamela Smith of the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD).
Court documents reveal that police officers responded to a call at 331 15th Street NE around 2:47 a.m. on February 2, 2025. Upon arrival, they found the victim of an armed carjacking who reported that Hawkins approached him while he was in his vehicle, brandished a black handgun, and ordered him to exit the vehicle. After complying with the demand, the victim stated that Hawkins took his wallet and cell phone before fleeing north on the 400 block of 15th Street NE.
While officers were gathering information from the victim, Prince George’s County Police spotted the stolen vehicle in Oxon Hill, Maryland. A pursuit ensued until Hawkins crashed into a curb and fled on foot. He was apprehended on Darrington Road with a handgun in his possession.
Hawkins appeared in court today and has been ordered to remain detained. The case is under investigation by the Metropolitan Police Department with Assistant U.S. Attorney Shaniqua Butler leading the prosecution.
