On November 27, 2025, the Computer & Communications Association (CCIA Europe) organized a high-level roundtable in Brussels titled '2030 Digital Targets and the Digital Networks Act: What is the Best Way Forward?'. The event was moderated by Ilsa Godlovitch from WIK-Consult.
The discussion brought together senior representatives from various sectors including the European Commission, the Polish EU Presidency, telecom regulators, consumer organizations, NGOs, cloud providers, content delivery networks (CDNs), digital services providers, satellite operators, fibre companies, and both alternative and incumbent telecom operators.
The primary focus of the debate was on how the upcoming Digital Networks Act (DNA) could drive innovation without compromising Europe's digital competitiveness. Participants expressed concerns about potential new regulatory burdens on cloud services and CDNs that might hinder AI and cloud adoption. These elements are crucial for meeting the EU's 2030 Digital Decade targets.
Further concerns were raised regarding extending telecom regulations to digital services which could pose a threat to net neutrality. The need for cost-effective connectivity solutions beyond just focusing on 5G and fibre technology was also emphasized during the discussion.
As preparations continue for unveiling the DNA later this year, participants at the roundtable stressed the importance of EU policies that encourage innovation while optimizing funding for connectivity and protecting an open internet.
