Apple has unveiled the latest versions of its operating systems—iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2, and macOS Sequoia 15.2—introducing new features under the Apple Intelligence banner. These updates are designed to enhance user experiences across iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices while maintaining a focus on privacy.
Among the key features is Image Playground, which allows users to create unique images using themes, costumes, and other elements. Users can also generate images resembling family or friends by utilizing their photo library. The feature integrates into various apps like Messages and Freeform and is available as a standalone app.
Genmoji is another addition that enhances communication by enabling users to create personalized emojis based on descriptions typed into the emoji keyboard. This feature supports customization with accessories and can be shared in messages as stickers or reactions.
The Notes app has been updated with Image Wand, which transforms sketches into polished images using contextual information from notes. Writing Tools have been expanded with a "Describe Your Change" option for more expressive writing adjustments.
A new visual intelligence experience called Camera Control helps users identify objects and places instantly on the iPhone 16 lineup. It offers capabilities such as text summarization, translation, contact detection, and integration with ChatGPT for additional insights.
ChatGPT is now integrated within Siri and Writing Tools across Apple's platforms, providing users access to its expertise without switching apps. Users have control over when to enable this feature and what data is shared with ChatGPT.
The update includes language expansion for localized English in several countries, with more languages expected throughout the year. Privacy remains a priority; Apple Intelligence processes many tasks on-device or through Private Cloud Compute without storing or sharing user data.
These Apple Intelligence features are available as free software updates worldwide where supported settings apply.
