Apple has announced the launch of Apple Invites, a new application designed for iPhone users to create and share custom invitations. The app, which is available for download from the App Store or accessible via icloud.com/invites, aims to facilitate gathering friends and family for various occasions. According to Brent Chiu-Watson, Apple's senior director of Worldwide Product Marketing for Apps and iCloud, "With Apple Invites, an event comes to life from the moment the invitation is created, and users can share lasting memories even after they get together."
The app integrates with existing Apple services such as iCloud and Apple Music. Users can select images from their photo library or choose from a curated gallery of backgrounds tailored for different events. Features like Maps and Weather provide guests with directions and weather forecasts.
Participants in events can contribute photos and videos to a Shared Album within each invite. Additionally, collaborative playlists allow Apple Music subscribers to curate event soundtracks accessible through Apple Invites.
Apple Intelligence supports the creation of unique invitations by allowing users to generate original images using concepts from their photo library. Writing Tools assist in crafting appropriate phrases for invitations.
Hosts have control over their invite experience by managing events, sharing invitations via links, reviewing RSVPs, and selecting details visible in previews. Guests can respond using either the iPhone app or the web without needing an iCloud+ subscription or an Apple Account.
iCloud+ subscribers benefit from additional features such as expanded storage, Private Relay for private browsing in Safari, Hide My Email functionality, HomeKit Secure Video capabilities, custom email domains, and Family Sharing options.
Apple Invites is available as a free download for all iPhone models running iOS 18 or later. It can also be accessed on the web at icloud.com/invites. Some features may not be available in all regions or languages.
