A Boston man has been sentenced in federal court for his involvement in trafficking illegal firearms from South Carolina to Massachusetts. Aizavier Roache, 31, received a five-year prison sentence followed by three years of supervised release. He had previously pleaded guilty to firearms trafficking and conspiracy charges in October 2024.
The investigation began when a firearm recovered from a shooting in Boston was traced back to a purchase made in South Carolina just 15 days earlier. Over the course of three years, Roache collaborated with Trevon Brunson to transport illegal firearms from South Carolina to Massachusetts. Roache communicated with Brunson through text messages, sending photos of the desired firearms. After purchasing the weapons, Brunson would meet Roache at various locations in Columbia, S.C., for the transfer.
Evidence of their activities included numerous text messages and records of bank transactions, travel, and firearm purchases. One intercepted communication revealed an instance where Brunson used Roache’s credit card for a multi-gun purchase due to insufficient cash, with Roache providing the card's pin number via text. Additionally, a video on Roache’s phone showed him displaying four firearms in a carry-on bag during his return trip to Massachusetts following an April 2023 purchase.
In total, more than 24 illegal firearms were trafficked into Massachusetts by the defendants. Eleven of these weapons were later recovered after being used in crimes within the state.
Trevon Brunson also pleaded guilty in October 2024 and is awaiting sentencing scheduled for March 21, 2025.
The announcement was made by United States Attorney Leah Foley; James M. Ferguson, Special Agent in Charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives' Boston Field Division; and Boston Police Commissioner Michael Cox. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Luke A. Goldworm of the Major Crimes Unit.
