Memphis, TN – Seven individuals have been indicted on federal gun and violent crime charges in West Tennessee, as announced by Acting United States Attorney Reagan Fondren. The indictments underscore the commitment of the U.S. Attorney's Office to prosecuting those who illegally possess firearms and commit violent offenses.
The defendants face various charges related to firearm possession and violent crimes:
- Torrian Floyd, 35, was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
- Mohamadou Ba, 21, faces charges including robbery affecting interstate commerce and brandishing a firearm during the robbery.
- Maurice Harris, 31, was indicted for multiple counts of robbery and brandishing a firearm.
- Marshun Lewis, 24, is charged with robbery of a postal carrier and brandishing a firearm.
- Royce Newsome, 32, and Alvin Anthony, 30, were indicted for conspiracy to commit carjacking among other charges.
- Christopher Busby, 53, faces two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
These cases are under investigation by several law enforcement agencies including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; FBI’s Safe Streets Task Force; Project Safe Neighborhoods Gun Task Force; Memphis Police Department; and Shelby County Sheriff’s Office. The indictments form part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), aimed at reducing violent crime through community trust-building and strategic enforcement priorities. Launched on May 26, 2021 by the Department of Justice, PSN focuses on fostering community trust and using data-driven methods for violence prevention.
