Mexican national indicted for illegal reentry into US

The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania has announced that Eustolio Sanchez-Ramirez, a 38-year-old from Chiapas, Mexico, was indicted on February 5, 2025. A federal grand jury charged him with illegal reentry into the United States.

Acting United States Attorney John C. Gurganus stated that the indictment alleges Sanchez-Ramirez was found in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, on or about December 19, 2024. This occurred after he had previously been removed from the United States through Brownsville, Texas. The indictment further claims that Sanchez-Ramirez reentered the country without obtaining legal permission.

The investigation was conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) along with the Harrisburg Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney David C. Williams is responsible for prosecuting this case.

If convicted of this offense under federal law, Sanchez-Ramirez faces a maximum penalty of two years imprisonment, followed by a term of supervised release and a fine. Sentencing will be determined by a judge who will consider applicable federal sentencing statutes and guidelines.

It is important to note that indictments are only allegations at this stage; all individuals charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
